Here we are then, my first blog proper. Well, it's just gone 7am and I'm actually just going to bed now. Since midnight I've argued, made up and discussed stuff with Callie. I've answered e-mails from Mansun fans volunteering to help report from gigs on the tour this month. I've set-up a new competition page on Crackout's site, although Nick, their drummer, got in touch quickly afterwards to explain how it doesn't look right on his computer - after an hour or two of playing around with settings we couldn't fix it, but it was fine on Callie's PC so I don't think it's a coding problem. Anyway, we'll soon find out for sure once Crackout fans try to enter and get in touch on the messageboard if they can't do it.
Callie went to bed about 3 and so I got on with swagshop stuff, such as the slow-moving integration of our existing webstores with SmartCreds, and discussing P&P/handling costs with our fulfilment company, Metro. Fun.
Before getting ready for bed I cleaned up my desk - a little, did this week's Heat crossword (one or two clues I couldn't get, as per usual), made an envelope for a cheque for an NME eBay auction I won in February - £2.20 for Jo(anne) Guest's 'Bent Fag', a fag that she was given by my flatmate Paul at the NME Awards. David Dickinson from BBC's Bargain Hunt values it at 50p, but I had to go higher that because of the fierce competition. Money goes to charity, and I think I get the fag framed or something, with a photo of Jo holding it. Lucky me. Almost as silly as the £1 coin donated by Ricky Gervais that ended up selling for £20 or something.
And now I'm watching Channel 4's new breakfast show which is alright, it seems - it's called Ri:se. I was watching MTV on ITV Digital, but now I can't because as of 7am today all the pay-services were turned off. The news reports never mention if that includes the naughty channels - I will have to see tonight I guess. Purely out of interest, of course.
Today is May Day, which means some people will demonstrate peacefully in London, and a whole load more other people will use it as an excuse to loot shops etc. Whatever turns you on, I guess. Today I will be sleeping, then working, both at my flat, then going out to a gig tonight. Then working when I get back.
Speaking of May Day and anti-globalism, what better a reason to promote http://www.starbuckscocacolagap.com - the website for my friend Toby's new single. When I say 'friend', to be honest it's more of an acquaintence(sp?), although we do spend time discussing various issues by e-mail, he put me in touch with the SmartCreds people (see above), and I go to some of his gigs and have polite conversations with him. He steals my CDs, but sends them back to me after a while ;)
Oh, and a final thought - Charlotte Church has apparently won the 'Rear Of The Year' award. Is that because she can sing out of it?
(In all fairness she was quite good on Have I Got News For You last week, but then that didn't involve singing)

And isn't Charlotte Church still way too young to be having people assessing her arse? Dodgy.

Bingo!
Toby is making a comeback, albeit a very small one at this stage. I think he's music is pretty good (check out the cool Flash jukebox on his site, and streams/downloads of his tracks), so yes, he should definitely bother (even if it doesn't work out). Better to regret something you've done than something you've not etc.May 1 2002, 11:10:33 UTC 10 years ago
Re: Bingo!
I heard he was in Thirteen:13 (is that what they're called?).Don't take me too seriously - I was just having a little dig at him cos Catch were so shite.

Re: Bingo!
Nah, the rest of the band are in Thirteen:13, I think (with some other people, I assume).Catch were so shite? Yeah, you are a music snob :)

Re: Bingo!
Woah - the fact that Catch were shite wasn't open to question!May 1 2002, 08:40:24 UTC 10 years ago
Actually, it's even funnier if it isn't.

No David, my life isn't a joke. Now, if you've quite finished gate-crashing the party you weren't invited to, could you kindly leave.

Re: No
Is this a party?I'm sorry if I found your blog entertaining. I thought that's what blogs were meant to be (at least a bit anyway) but i'm sure you'll be able to correct me natts.

Re: No
Yes, it looks like 'a group of people who have gathered to participate in an activity' (namely commenting on my blog) to me.Nothing wrong with finding my blog entertaining, David, but surely you realise that it itself is not supposed to be a joke, or something that is 'even funnier if it isn't'?
If you're saying I got the wrong idea about your comment, please make it clear.
Nice flag. Are you qualified to use it?

Re: No
Sorry, I guess I'm not as good at making myself clear as you are.I was laughing at the joke that you made about watching 'naughty channels' (that was a joke, yeah? 'Cos I don't want to be laughing at something if it wasn't meant to be laughed at).
I wasn't laughing at your blog. Why would I laugh at your blog?
I'll add you to my friendslist if it's OK with you...

Re: No
I'm not amazing at it. Never claimed to be. But as my life progresses, I increasingly appreciate the need for it. We talk online as if we are talking in person (where meaning is almost always understood by the way words are emphasised etc.), but we're not. So mis-communication often occurs.Yeah, the 'naughty channels' thing was an attempt at humour, but you didn't exactly make it clear that's what you were referring to. I hope that wasn't intentional.
Why would you laugh at my blog? Um, 'cos you don't like me? Or is that false?
If you consider me a friend then sure, add me to your list.
